Apple might use Siri to answer the phone calls

The electronics giant is building up a service which would include transcription in addition to the voice mail utilizing Siri, similar to custom made answering machine.

Apple is running tests for a voice service using Siri the digital assistant for iPhone and iPad responding to phone calls using customized messages if the user is not available or not in a mood of talking as told by Business Insider.  ICloud Voicemail will be transcribing the voice mail generating text to help the user simply read it when convenient.

Siri is not the lone voice assistant available as it faces tough competition from the two major rivals, Google and Microsoft.  Google’s voice assistant is not only running on android software but also on iPhones.  Just like that Microsoft’s Cortana is not only available in Windows phones but is also available in tablets and computers with Windows 10.  Soon it will be available on iOS.  In this scenario Apple has to keep the Siri updating to prove that it is way beyond for just answering the questions and obliging requests.  Voice mail is a good step for Siri if the transcription is reliable and accurate.

As revealed by Business Insider the new service will be working in different steps.  It would reply the calls with customized messages.  The new voice mail would be able to share your info with specific people conveying them your position and the reason for not answering the phone.  The mail will be moved to server controlled by Apple where with the help of Siri voice message will be converted to text and sent to the iPhone to be read just like reading an email or text message.

Apple employees are testing Siri and new service integration to launch in 2016 as it was rumored that Apple employees are using it recently.  If all goes well then the new service would be available in iOS 10 next year.  Right now Siri can play the voice messages on command.  Though, reading mail in written format would be much easier than playing it repeatedly.  At present Google is providing the identical service so Apple needs to work really hard to compete for the new service to tap and retain the customers.
