Unveiling the larger version of tablet the Apple CEO revealed the device name as iPad Pro with a 12.9 inch screen that can be used with both hands and has the feature of running two applications simultaneously.  The reason behind the new design is to prove that it can be used other than surfing web and just watching videos.

The other new features introduced in this model are a smart keyboard and a stylus pencil to help the user interact with the tablet in a more specific way.  The CEO also told during the San Francisco event that in five years iPad has changed the way of creation, learning and working and claimed that iPad Pro is their best creation.

The staring price of iPad Pro is approximately $1000 with 32 GB of storage and this includes keyboard and pencil also.  This step is Apple’s effort to attract users in crashing tablet industry.  The iPad sales was a weak spot for the company for several years and has witnessed consecutive decline for six years.

According to analysts consumers are reluctant to buy new tablets as they opt for large screen iPhones and computers.  Another factor that has contributed to low iPad sales is that Apple has not tried much to increase the demand by offering jumps in tablet technology but now is taking new measures to turn around the things like IBM partnership to increase iPad sales and targeting the business users.  The new release might help in creating demand as tech industry is inclined towards devices which lie in between laptops and tablets and Apple can gain the advantage by offering a device like that.

The interesting part of these new moves is that they are from the trend of the industry, which has been happening for some years recently.  For example Microsoft announced keyboard for its tablet and later on added a stylus also.  But if we look at Apple Pencil it goes against the view of Steve Jobs the cofounder of the company as announcing the iPhone back in 2007 he clearly said that people don’t want to use stylus anymore as its annoying to carry and store, so we are not going to use the stylus.

The technology giant needs a reason to push people for buying the new iPads.  Tablet demand has gradually declined and Apple has also suffered the setback.  According to statistics recently the market share for iPad has dropped from 27.7 percent to 24.5 percent recently.  Consumers now prefer big screen phones rather than tablets and those who own the tablet keep on holding it and don’t find a reason to purchase the new one.  Another reason for dropped tablet sales is that usually family members are sharing the same device rather than purchasing an individual tablet for every family member.  The last iPad released in October didn’t offer much other than fingerprint sensor so Apple really has to work hard to sell the coming Mini iPad.

Split view feature on iPad would definitely help users as many applications could be run side by side just like in tablet of Windows 10.  The feature will be excellent for iPad 2 as it has a screen of 9.7 inches but having two applications simultaneously on iPad Mini would be cumbersome and less satisfying as its screen size is only 7.9 inches.  Right now the company may be experimenting with the new feature to check its user friendliness on Mini.  There are also rumors that a larger 12.9 inch display iPad is under development and if its true then it would definitely give the split view advantage.

Apple takes 92% smartphone profit as per analysis

Collectively android devices maybe leading the smartphone market but Apple is taking home all the profit.  During this year’s first quarter Apple took the 92% share of total income collectively earned by eight different smartphone providers.  The figure increased from 65% for Apple during initial quarter of last year.  The latest figure is of quite significance as globally Apple sells only 20% of the smartphones from all the sellers.  Behind Apple is Samsung at 15% and remaining smartphone vendors either suffer loss or are at breakeven.

The reason behind this phenomenon is that Apple has high prices which helps it to get a large profit chunk while selling little quantity of phones.  The average sale price of iPhone is $624 globally as compared to $185 for other devices.  Another reason for profit increase was high demand of iPhone 6 and 6 plus with big screens.  As compared to previous similar quarter Apple sales were 43 percent higher for iPhones with higher prices.

Another reason for Apple’s success is due to unique product line as compared to Android phones.  Having numerous models Apple sells only one smartphone and that is the iPhone.  However, Android phone sellers offer variety of different phones ranging from cheap to expensive models.  Leaving the two different platforms aside, Apple can ask for more price as its device is different from all the android devices available in the market.

Sony’s strategy for high end market is quite different from many other cellphone companies like ZTE, Lenovo, Alcatel, which focus more on consumer’s affordability factor and have pushed their prices down to get more attention.  This strategy has helped China’s Xiaomi in getting more market share as it keeps on selling cheap price smartphones with fancy components.

The kit is quite easy to use.  A clamp holds the mount over camera lens and lens slide in.  The lens having magnetic circle gets attached to metallic plate of the mount with plastic sides keeping lens in center over camera lens.  Its pretty simple overall and mount can be left on phone as it is quite small.

The kit comes in with two new lenses of LM-20 and LM-30.  LM-20 has a larger focus area and LM-30 is little different from the usual as it gives the kaleidoscopic effect using exterior of lens.  It can be used for videos having extraordinary movement.  LM-20 does not give much effects when taking square Instagram photos but LM-30 works much better for such photos.

The new app is quite different from the earlier one with more feature and interface.  There are six icons on right of screen which include flip, white balance, exposure lock, sharpness, spot meter and gridlines.  Toggling between still mode and video is through upper right icon and shutter or record button is on middle right side.  Tapping the screen gives autofocus and option for color effect like vivid and monochrome is not available but can be used through camera app.  The new version is quite faster than the previous one.

The mount with the bigger lenses create a large difference in its usability.  The fun is still there but with less frustration.
